The Bountiful Bog

This bog is almost always flooded. The ground can trap you if you stay still too long. Toads, frogs, salamanders, ducks, geese, newts, bugs, hares, foxes, mosses, fungi, and many different kinds of plants can be found here!
"Watch your step." Arturo said, making sure Malheure could read his lips. They had reached some sort of bog and his paws were already sinking into the ground from just standing around.
Malheure nodded to show she'd got the message, and followed Arturo carefully. When they reached stable ground again Arturo left her by a large tree and went to get some food.
Arturo managed to sniff out a hare hole. He settled himself down behind it, out of sight of anything coming out, and waited. After what seemed like hours something came out of the hole. He pounced, and nearly caught it. Whatever it was managed to wriggle away and run back into the hole. Arturo growled in frustration, and decided to head back to Malheure since the sun was going down. He reached her and lay down next to her sleeping form.

Crystal was edging her way through the bog with difficulty. She had originally intended to explore the strange pack's territory, though at the moment she was beginning to regret her decision. With each step she took, her small paws would disappear under the marshy ground. She paused to see two wolves in the distance, though the moment didn't last long since she was quickly sinking.

Arturo quickly got to his feet once more as the breeze shifted and he caught the scent of another wolf. "WHO'S THERE!?" he barked in the direction of the wind, towards the bog.
Malheure continued sleeping, seeing as she couldn't hear a thing.

Crystal perked her ears at his voice, now getting the idea that this wolf wasn't very friendly. She tugged at her paws frantically, though it seemed like the harder she pulled, the more stuck she became.

Arturo could just make out the form of a wolf out in the bog. He carefully picked his way over, making sure not to stay still too long. "You stuck?" he asked the wolf when he was closer.

Crystal's ears lowered as he approached her. She nodded slowly, watching him cautiously due to the fact that he was much larger than her. "Yes.."

Crystal grunted, tugging her legs as he pushed. After a few moments, she finally slips free, and stumbles over a bit before regaining her footing. She smiles at him kindly. "Oh, thank you!"

"The ground here is real hard to walk on." She states, mainly to herself as she lifts her paws out of the bog to avoid getting stuck again.

Crystal's eyes wandered toward his glance, though she did not see this other wolf that he was talking about. She just shrugged and asked them in return, "Are you part of their pack too? Or are you both just hoping to join?"

"Malheure was in their pack before, but she got lost." Arturo explained. "I grew up in a pack not far from here, so I knew where the Golden Bloods were."

Arturo heard a cacophony of howls off in the distance, and turned towards it. "I need to go. You're welcome to come along. I'm going to get Malheure and head farther in the packs territory." he told Crystal, and headed off, stepping carefully.
