Belle felt the burning hot tears welling up in her eyes. She looked down, not wanting to look at him now. Her eyes fell upon a stone by the stream, now focusing on it to calm herself down.

Echo took a deep breath, knowing what he was about to do could very well get him killed. He also knew it could help Belle. He moved over next to her and curled his head and neck around her. He also curled his tail around her. "Ok. It can wait." he whispered in her ear. "It's going to be all right. You'll see."

Belle shook lightly as she exhaled, the pit in her chest beginning to fill itself again. This was familiar to her. Echo was what was familiar to her, and that's what she needed right now. Belle leaned into him, closing her eyes tightly as a tear escaped from her eye, rolling down her cheek. She was confused and unsure about things now, but she clung to his words as if they were her lifeline.

It was too late. Echo got up on his hind legs, putting his two front paws on Belle's side and pushed. She plunged into the stream with a splash. Echo started rolling round laughing.
